Distribution lists

What is a distribution list?

A distribution list is an e-mail address that forwards to a maximum of 10 existing email addresses. When one sends a message to a distribution list, it is sent to all recipients in the distribution list. For example, you have an e-mail address that is more closely linked to your department or recognized association within UGent

Another option is the shared mailbox. This is an extra, shared mailbox used by several UGent staff.
To regularly send messages to a list of e-mail addresses, you can also use a mailing list. Also preferable if the list of addressees changes regularly.

In contrast to a shared mailbox, you can also have the emails forwarded to a distribution list and a mailing list to external e-mail addresses.

Distribution lists cannot be requested for non-profit organizations or commercial activities that directly or indirectly have anything to do with the University.
