Mozilla Thunderbird setup

'Exchange' environment (for UGent staff)

• To add your personal UGent Exchange mailbox:

  • On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  • On the Account Settings page, under Account Actions, click Add Mail Account.
  • In the Mail Account Setup dialog box, select / fill out the following:
    • Your name
    • IMAP over SSL
    • Your e-mail address
    • Incoming mail server (IMAP): owa.UGent.be - port 993 - SSL/TLS
    • Authentication: Normal Password
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.UGent.be - port 587 - STARTTLS (or port 465 - SSL/TLS) (Registration required: an encrypted connection can be obtained from the helpdesk)
    • Authentication: Normal Password
    • Your UGent user name (login name)
    • Your UGent password

• Use Thunderbird to access your Exchange-agenda (NOT supported).
• Add a shared mailbox (Thunderbird / IMAP).
