Eduroam: configuration assistant tool

Configuring Eduroam can be done easily and quickly with a configuration assistant tool (CAT).


Windows 10 & 11

  • Student? Enter your UGent credentials with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Staff member? Enter your UGent credentials twice (also for wired connection) with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
    • Because the popup for entering your credentials sometimes remains hidden behind other windows, we recommend hiding the desktop beforehand with the hotkey: Windows logo key + D.

macOS

  • After downloading, choose Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Profiles"
  • Choose "eduroam" from the "Downloaded" column on the left and click "Install..."
  • Student? Enter your UGent credentials with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Staff member? Enter your UGent credentials twice (also for wired connection) with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Continue in "System preferences" > "Network"
  • Choose "Wifi" from the left-hand column
  • Choose "Eduroam" from the "Network name" dropdown.

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  • After downloading, go to Settings.
  • Tap Profile Downloaded and then "Install".
  • Tap "Next" and "Install" on the following screens
  • In the following screens, enter your UGent login details with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Tap "Done". Your device will now automatically connect to Eduroam.

Android

  • Install the 'geteduroam' app from the Google Play Store:
  • Search for "Universiteit Gent" in the organisation field.
  • Staff member? In the pop-up window, select "UGent (staff)".
  • Student? In the pop-up window, select "UGent (students)".
  • In the next screen, enter your UGent login details with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Eduroam is now set up and you can save the network:

Linux

  • Either:
    • via the file manager using "Run as program" to run the downloaded Python script
    • via the Terminal with: python3 <script>
  • Confirm the following information screens with "OK" and "Yes":
  • In the following screens, enter your UGent login details with your username ending in "@ugent.be".
  • Confirm your password:
  • Installation completed, now choose Eduroam in network settings.
