To use your own laptop at UGent, you need to know how to do it and what you may need to provide in advance.

Set up your own laptop for UGent use
- Connecting wirelessly with UGentNet
Choose the network 'eduroam' and enter your login-name@ugent.be and your UGent password (don't FORGET TO ADD "@ugent.be" TO YOUR LOGIN NAME).

- The minimum requirements for the software you'll be using are the same as for a device your going to telework with.
- You can easily access some services directly via the web. They only require your UGent login name and UGent password.
Other services require you to pre-install software and configure it correctly.
- Printing: from an application on Athena you can print to the standard printer of your (local) PC and to the publicly available (Ricoh) copiers (multifunctionals).
Microsoft devices/apps
UGent offers Office365, for students and employee's. You need an
UGent account for it.
Your UGent account is a school account (for students) or a work account (for employees).
To guarantee
information security, additional account(s) are required on your (shared) devices.
In "Points of attention for working safely with IT resources" you will find that if family members or third parties use the same device, this
must be done under a separate account.
