VPN under MacOS X

Set-up and use of a Virtual Private Network with MacOS X (from OSX 10.1.5 on)

Mac OS X from 10.8 onwards: use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility VPN

Configuration of the built-in VPN-Client on MacOSX Snow Leopard (10.6)

  1. Go to the Apple sign in the top left corner
  2. System preferences - Network
  3. Click on the + sign in the lower right corner of the frame
  4. Select 'VPN' interface
  5. Below you click on 'Cisco IPsec'
  6. Next you click 'Create'
  7. In the next frame enter the 'Server address': rtrvpn.UGent.be in
  8. Below you fill in your login name and password
  9. Then click 'Authentication settings'
  10. As 'Shared secret ' enter: cisco123
  11. As 'Group name': ipsecclient
  12. Click 'OK'
  13. Tick 'Show VPN status in menu bar'
  14. Click 'Apply'
